Arithmetic only: concentration is mass divided by volume, molarity is concentration divided by molecular weight. Use the peptide content printed on the Certificate of Analysis, not the gross powder weight. For laboratory research use only.

Mass over volume

Concentration is the peptide mass divided by the diluent volume. 5 mg in 2 mL is 2.5 mg/mL; the same 5 mg in 1 mL is 5 mg/mL. The amount never changes, only the volume that carries it.

Use the COA number

The label mass is peptide content, not gross powder weight. Counter-ion and residual moisture are often 5 to 20 percent of what is physically in the vial. Our per-lot Certificates of Analysis print the content and the molecular weight this calculator needs.

Units on a U-100

A U-100 syringe is graduated at 100 units per mL, so 0.05 mL reads as 5 units. Volumes under 2 units are hard to read accurately; a smaller diluent volume raises the concentration and the unit count.
