How to start a peptide brand

Starting a peptide brand takes four things: a white-label supplier, per-lot third-party testing, a payment processor that keeps you, and compliant copy.

What is the part nobody warns you about?

Payment processing. Sourcing product is the easy half — plenty of suppliers will white-label for you, us included. Getting and keeping a processor is the half that closes brands. Research peptides sit outside what most mainstream processors will underwrite, LegitScript certification is not open to research-use-only sellers, and Google Merchant refuses most of this catalog categorically. Plan the money rails before the branding.

What stands behind it

Third-party tested
HPLC purity and mass-spectrometry identity per lot, by a laboratory that does not sell you the material.
Second-brand COAs
Certificates re-issued under your name, on the same lot and the same independent test data.
Made in the USA
Synthesis, fill and finish domestic. Orders ship inside the United States rather than clearing customs.
A real number, fast
A written price sheet for your volume and fulfillment model, back within one business day.

How it works

  1. 01
    Decide what you actually are

A research-use-only supplier is a different business from a wellness brand, and the difference decides your copy, your processor, your ad options and your legal exposure. Pick deliberately, then write everything to match. Most brands that get into trouble drifted across this line by accident, one product description at a time.

  2. 02
    Solve payments before product

Find out what you can actually charge with, and what happens if that rail disappears. Most new brands discover this in month three, after inventory is paid for. Manual rails — wire, ACH, crypto — are slower but far harder to switch off than a card processor that reviews your account and declines to keep it.

  3. 03
    Source supply and testing together

The supplier and the Certificate of Analysis are one decision, not two. A cheap vial with a COA from a lab that also sold you the material is not third-party tested, and the whole trust proposition of this category rests on that distinction.

  4. 04
    Label, then prove it

Artwork on the vial, a per-lot COA under your name, and a way for a customer to verify it. Verification is the differentiator most new brands skip, and it is the one experienced buyers check first.

  5. 05
Write compliant copy from day one

Retrofitting compliance across a live catalog is far more expensive than writing it correctly once. Every claim about what a compound does for a person is a claim you have to defend.

Questions

How much does it cost to start a peptide brand?

The two real costs are the opening inventory order and the payment infrastructure. Inventory is set per account against volume and fulfillment model. Everything else — branding, a storefront, label artwork — is small by comparison and easy to over-invest in early.

Do I need a laboratory?

No, if you white label. Synthesis, fill, finish and third-party testing sit with your supplier, and you operate a brand and a storefront rather than a facility.

Can I sell research peptides on Google Shopping?

Mostly no. Google Merchant Center refuses the large majority of this catalog as unapproved supplements, and that determination is categorical rather than a wording problem. Plan on organic search, direct traffic and referral rather than paid shopping.

What is the hardest part of launching?

Payment processing, by a wide margin. Sourcing product is straightforward and plenty of suppliers will white-label. Keeping a processor that will underwrite research-use-only sales is what actually closes brands.

What does research use only actually mean for a seller?

That the material is supplied for laboratory research and not for human or veterinary use, and that everything you publish has to be consistent with that. It constrains your product copy, your marketing and your customer conversations, and it is not a disclaimer you bolt on at the end.

How long does it take to launch?

The supply side moves in weeks: pricing back in one business day, then a label proof cycle and a first production run. Payment rails and compliant copy are what set the real timeline.

Can I start small and scale?

Yes, and it is the sensible order. Start dropshipped so you hold no inventory, move to labeled stock once reorder rates justify warehousing, and move to blank bulk when you have your own fulfillment operation.
