Multinational double-blind randomized trial (LEADER) in 9340 adults with type 2 diabetes and high cardiovascular risk; once-daily subcutaneous liraglutide 1.8 mg vs placebo, median 3.8 years. Primary endpoint: composite cardiovascular death, nonfatal MI, nonfatal stroke.
