CJC-1295 with DAC — the other molecule, and how to tell them apart
The DAC form is 279 daltons heavier than the no-DAC form and has its own CAS. One number on the COA separates them.
CJC-1295 with DAC is a distinct molecule from the no-DAC form, not a variant of it. It carries an added drug-affinity complex group, giving a molecular weight of 3647.13 g/mol against 3367.89 for the no-DAC form — a difference of 279 daltons that a Certificate of Analysis will show plainly.

What DAC actually is
Drug affinity complex refers to a maleimidoproprionic acid group covalently attached to the peptide. It is a chemical modification of the molecule rather than a formulation choice or an additive, which is why the two forms have different formulas, different masses and separate identities.
The 279-dalton test
This is the fastest check available. Read the mass spectrometry figure on the COA: approximately 3647 for the DAC form, approximately 3368 for the no-DAC form. The gap is far larger than any measurement uncertainty, so there is no ambiguity — provided the COA reports a mass at all, which is the more common failure.
Why both forms exist
The modification was designed to extend circulating half-life by binding to serum albumin. Whether that is desirable depends entirely on what a given experiment is measuring, which is why both forms remain in the research market rather than one superseding the other.
What the published work examined
Two studies in our research library, both from 2006, concern growth hormone secretion measured in clinical research settings. They are linked below.

Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between CJC-1295 with and without DAC?
- They are chemically distinct molecules. The DAC form carries an added maleimidoproprionic acid group, giving it a molecular weight of 3647.13 g/mol against 3367.89 for the no-DAC form — a 279 dalton difference with its own formula.
- How do I tell which form of CJC-1295 I have?
- Read the mass on the Certificate of Analysis. About 3647 g/mol is the DAC form; about 3368 is the no-DAC form. The gap far exceeds measurement uncertainty, so the only ambiguity comes from a COA that reports no mass at all.
- Why does the DAC modification exist?
- It was designed to extend circulating half-life through albumin binding. Whether that is useful depends on what an experiment is measuring, which is why both forms remain in the research market.
