Glutathione

Reduced glutathione tripeptide — master antioxidant studied in oxidative-stress research.

Glutathione is supplied by Bench Grade Peptides as a lyophilized powder in a sealed, lot-numbered vial, for laboratory research use only — not for human or veterinary use.

Its published Certificate of Analysis (lot 00011, analyzed July 21, 2026) is from Bioviridian, a third-party laboratory, and reports 99.8% purity by HPLC; every published lot is listed on the product's COA page. Vials ship at ambient temperature in protective packaging from Florida (Bench Grade Peptides LLC is registered in Dover, Delaware), with storage notes on the lot's certificate.

Glutathione is the tripeptide γ-L-glutamyl-L-cysteinyl-glycine (CAS 70-18-8, C10H17N3O6S, 307.32 g/mol), supplied in its reduced form (GSH). The unusual γ-peptide bond, through the side-chain carboxyl of glutamate rather than its α-carboxyl, protects it from most peptidases, and the cysteine thiol is the reactive group behind almost everything it does.

Glutathione is one of the most studied molecules in redox biology. The research literature covers the GSH/GSSG couple as a measure of cellular redox state, its role as the substrate of glutathione peroxidases and glutathione S-transferases, and its use as a reference reagent in assays of oxidative-stress pathways in cultured cells and animal models.

In the laboratory, the practical concern is oxidation: reduced glutathione slowly converts to the disulfide GSSG in solution, so handling and storage conditions change what an assay actually measures. Published lot certificates are listed on its COA page. Glutathione is supplied for laboratory research use only.
